MRS. HOBEN'S KINDERGARTEN NEWS
April 10th, 2009
Here's a summary of our very busy week. MONDAY: We read the book Cheep, Cheep and wrote chick sticker stories in our journals. During
Math Workshop, we played fill the hexagons using "Ted the Overhead", explored 3-D wooden blocks, and played a fill the triangle game.
TUESDAY: Partners drew 3 pictures out of our alphabet photo library box and created a story to go with them. These were very creative!
We learned about the following 3-D shapes: cylinder, cube, cone, rectangular prism, and sphere.
WEDNESDAY: Journals: rabbit sticker stories ( we looked at a picture of a real rabbit standing next to a chocolate bunny for inspiration).
"ick" words on a chick cut-out. We read a very old book (from 1950!) called The Funny Bunny Factory.
THURSDAY: We went on a shape hunt around the school and searched for 3-D shapes. We learned the copycat game where partners took
turns building a linking cube design and copying it. Reading groups.
FRIDAY: Computer Lab: MS Shapes program (working with pattern blocks) We read a book about a boy eating a chocolate bunny and we
acted out the story using real chocolate bunnies.
NOTICES: No school next Friday, April 17th. Vacation is the week of April 20th.
We are setting up a dress-up center in the classroom. Any donations of clothing, jewelry, purses would be appreciated. Please label items if
you want them returned.
HAPPY EASTER!
